Mahdi Yazdinezhad

P.Eng., MASc,Lead Structural Engineer, Principal

Mahdi is a strong leader and great engineer. He brings his natural problem solving ability and inherent creativity to project teams. His brilliant technical skills result in optimized structural design, while his hands-on knowledge of construction ensures a constructible design. From a technical standpoint, Mahdi has a good understanding of all the code bases and design patterns of all services rendered. Mahdi strives for continuous improvement. He always raises ideas for improving the efficiency of projects, looking at things holistically and identifying constraints. He effectively leads other team members through meeting, planning and any processes which are needed to accomplish the project goals.

Architects and developers enjoy his collaborative approach to design and excellent problem-solving skills. He has expertise in engineering high rises, remarkable wineries, mass timber structure, industrial tilt-up and precast buildings and mid-rise wood-frame design. Mahdi’s technical abilities and approach allow him to develop very efficient framing and structural outlines. His portfolio includes Landmark 7, a notable 27-storeys high rise and Capstone first mass timber residential high-rise apartment built in Kelowna.

Mahdi graduated from the University of British Columbia – Okanagan Campus with master’s degree. He has worked on the development of mass timber hybrid with concrete structure.

Dr. Bahar Reza

P.Eng., PhD, E.A.,Principal, Lead Building Energy Performance Engineering, Intermediate Structural Engineer

Bahar has more than ten years of professional experience in structural and building energy performance engineering (energy modelling).

Her primary role at ROV is managing energy modelling projects.  She is a Certified Energy Advisor and an expert in providing building performance services complying with the BC Energy Step Code, the BC Building Code Part 9 and 3 (performance-path) and the Certified Passive House and Net-Zero House design requirements. Additionally, Bahar offers a wide range of structural engineering services for industrial structures, marinas, guardrails, signs and glass structures (railings, stairs and steps).

Activities that include reading, setting and pursuing personal goals and devloping a healthy lifestyle. Bahar loves her work and enjoys working on all her projects. She employs a creative approach to problem-solving rather than using the same method for every project. Her main goal is always to discover the most cost effective solution while meeting a project’s code energy and saftey requirements.

Trevor Judd

P.Eng., MASc, B.Sc.

Trevor leads a variety of structural engineering projects and oversees the structural designs of team members. He works through projects from the consultation and quotation phases to the final reviews and commissioning. He is a mentor to younger engineers and design technicians in the office.

Trevor has a wide variety of experience in residential, multi-storey residential, commercial and industrial buildings. He also continues to build on his expertise in light-framed wood truss engineering and construction engineering. His Master of Applied Science degree from UBCO focused on the seismic analysis of existing bridge infrastructure for upgrading. He has years of experience working with various construction materials and takes pride in working through and offering practical solutions to challenging structural designs to achieve architectural design.

When he is off work, you can find him doing:

Outdoor activities of all types, including hiking, skiing, fishing, and camping. He enjoys getting away with his wife and two boys to experience the outdoors whenever possible. He also appreciates learning about and sampling new foods and cultures and attempts to convince his family, not always successfully, to explore with him. Trevor is open-minded to brainstorming alternative solutions that benefit all parties.

 

Annabel Fairweather

P.Eng. B. Eng.

Annabel has been working as a structural engineer at ROV Consulting since 2017. She works under the supervision of senior engineering colleagues on various projects. Annabel completes design work and consults with clients on structural engineering needs.

Since starting at ROV Consulting, Annabel has specialized in custom residential building design and specialty custom design work for small commercial buildings, notably winery tasting rooms and breweries. She enjoys the challenge of working with architects and coming up with innovative and creative design solutions for their design ideas. Her father owns a residential construction company back in Australia, so she’s been around construction her whole life. She believes this exposure sparked her passion for specializing in the areas she has in her professional career.

What she can to enjoy the mountains. A native Australian, Annabel moved to Canada to be close to the mountains. She loves skiing and snowmobiling in the winter and mountain biking and hiking in the summer. She’s passionate about the outdoors and loves going on big adventures. She believes in spending time outside and pursuing an active lifestyle to create a healthy work-life balance.

Ian Cumming

P.Eng. B.A.Sc.

Ian is a structural engineer who works directly with the E.I.T.’s, drafters, and other colleagues. He collaborates with clients and incorporates their feedback during the design phase to allow construction to proceed smoothly.

He specializes in the design of residential, commercial, and multi-family projects. Before starting his engineering career, he gained valuable experience working in the field building water reservoirs throughout the Okanagan Valley.

A wide variety of outdoor activities throughout the year. During the winter, he enjoys downhill, backcountry and cross-country skiing. In the warmer months, he likes to find a nice quiet camping spot where he can sit in a river with his fishing gear, accompanied by his Newfoundland dog.

Nate Eggers

P.Eng.,B.A.Sc.

Nate works with clients and his professional colleagues at ROV to create structures that bring the clients’ visions to life. He analyzes and designs systems commonly employed in buildings and visits job sites during construction to ensure the structural work follows ROV designs.

His primary practice areas concern the design of concrete and wood frame structures. He has experience with various project types, including high-rise buildings, single-family and multi-family residential buildings, commercial buildings, and specialty structures. Finding simple and economical ways to solve complex problems is the most enjoyable part of his work.

His best to work out regularly at the gym or experience one of the many fine places to eat around the Okanagan. Otherwise, he spends time in the summer playing golf and tennis and in the winter snowboarding. More recently, Nate’s enjoyed some fun summer days at the Area 27 racetrack in Oliver. Being a hardworking fellow who likes to tackle new challenges and is enthusiastic about his profession, he believes our time should be appreciated.

David Raoufi

E.I.T. BASC

David primarily completes structural designs for residential and commercial projects and assists senior engineers when required. He coordinates with owners/designers on the structural design to ensure the constructability and “look” are what they’re after.

What he loves most, namely snowboarding, camping, mountain biking and visiting local breweries. He considers himself a friendly fellow and works to accommodate others’ needs and schedules. He appreciates collaborating with clients to gain a thorough understanding of their needs so he can offer them the best solution.

Quentin Little

Structural Technologist

Quentin is the Senior CAD Technologist and is responsible for the drafting and preliminary design work of several types of buildings and structures.

He coordinates architects and other consultants and provides the project engineer with a solid concept for commencing structural design work. His job includes ensuring the structural design is free of physical conflicts and meets all client requirements. He provides clear, consistent, and uncluttered project documents, updates the ROV CAD standards and details and mentors the drafting team.

His part in raising a toddler with his wife, which he admits takes a significant amount of his time and energy. He also enjoys biking, snowboarding, camping, motorcycling, politics and movies.

Josh Meier

ASTTBC Grad Tech C.E.T. & Structural Technologist

Joshua drafts various projects, drawing up clients’ construction plans and details. He begins the project by taking the initial design plans and concepts and translating them into working drawings.

He has worked with various construction techniques; however, his specialty is residential and multi-storey wood construction. Growing up in a family of carpenters and cribbers has made residential construction a familiar territory for him. With years of construction experience under his belt, he enjoys a firm understanding and visualization of building methods and techniques. Although his work experience is with wood construction, he loves to expand his skill set to include all forms of construction.

Whatever he can to enjoy rock climbing, hiking, playing volleyball, watching movies, and playing with his dog. More than anything, he loves spending time with his family and friends. He realizes time is precious, so he plans to live it to its potential and not waste a moment of it.

Mike Larocque

Structural Technologist

Mike works with a team of engineers to create structural drawings that depict how to construct various building types.

Although proficient in AutoCAD, Mike specializes in B.I.M. (Building Information Modelling). Through programs such as Revit and Tekla, he can model the structure in 3D space. These programs help him generate construction drawings based on the attributes he assigns to the various structural components.

  • 2014 – Diploma in Architectural Technology from Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (N.A.I.T.)

He’s a huge movie fan and loves listening to music. He’s a curious, ambitious, and determined individual, pretty easygoing and one who loves to help wherever needed.

Brandon Gray

E.I.T. BASC

Brandon works on a wide variety of projects alongside the senior engineers to ensure projects are done with code compliance and cost effectiveness in mind. To this end, he also performs site reviews to ensure ROV’s designs are reflected in the field. He takes interest in many different types of projects and enjoys tackling the unique challenges and requirements each one offers.

His kanji reviews as he learns how to speak Japanese. His love for learning extends far past engineering and Japan, spanning between philosophy, history, and politics. He also keeps active, working out and going on hikes in the summer. Between these interests, he tries to always keep a good balance between physical and mental growth. In his downtime, he likes to decompress with trivia, good music, and spending time with his family.

Robin Huculak

E.I.T. BASC

Robin’s primary areas of practice involve commercial, single and multi-family residential construction. He is passionate about applying practical and economical solutions to complex problems. He strives to take a holistic approach to each project by coordinating with key stakeholders to ensure a structural solution that does not compromise on architectural design. He strives for continuous improvement and actively engages with senior engineers to enhance his understanding and draw on their wealth of experience.

Kaelynn D’Amico

Office Manager

Day-to-day, Kaelynn ensures operations run smoothly by handling phone calls, creating client proposals, overseeing client relations, juggling schedules, and keeping the company and its people productive.

When she is off work, you can find her doing:

Rigorous workouts at the gym or enjoying camping, travelling, sampling the local wineries, and doing whatever the Okanagan offers. She feels a work and life balance is essential to be productive, healthy, and happy.

ROV Engineering Consultants is an Structural Engineering and Energy Consulting  firm based in Kelowna, BC. We’ve been serving the Interior of British Columbia since 1997, and are licensed to practice in British Columbia, Yukon, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Arizona.
