Building Energy Engineering is designing the building perimeter to reduce or minimalize the amount of energy required to heat and cool the building, while making it more comfortable.

ROV uses sophisticated computer energy modelling techniques to precisely replicate any building’s thermal envelope and calculate expected energy performance.

Basic Services

Performance-based building energy code compliance includes:

  • Performance-based analysis of thermal envelope, specified windows, and HVAC system.
  • Determine the most efficient use and placement of envelope materials.
  • Propose upgrade strategies to reduce energy usage while improve occupant comfort.
  • Determine the annual and monthly-based energy usage and cost.
  • Evaluate type and size of specified HVAC systems and propose alternatives to improve energy efficiency.
  • Calculate payback period for the proposed energy efficiency upgrades.
  • Provide thermal envelope drawings with R-value calculation (code compliance).
  • Blower door air leakage testing and thermal envelope inspection.

We test completed building to measure energy transfer and air leakage parameters. From these measurements, ROV’s in-house Certified Energy Advisor can certify the building’s energy performance standard.
